What is Prayer Walking?

Praying on-site with insight!

While we cannot talk face-to-face with God today as Adam, Enoch or Noah, we can still walk and talk to him. We can "prayer walk" in our neighborhood, in a downtown business area or in a government building. We as Christians need to be praying on-site with insight!

Psalm 53:2 states that God looks down to see if there is anyone who seeks and understands Him. We need to be followers of Christ who listen to His heart and intercede for His people.

Prayer walking is an extension of your personal prayer life and can change your perception of the world around you. Interceding on behalf of others causes us to devote more time to caring about and for others than ourselves.

What is Virtual Prayer Walking?

Similar to prayer walking, "virtual prayer walking" is a form of intercession that uses media (pictures and video) to help guide your prayers for a particular place, or in our case a particular area where a people group lives. While many people would love the opportunity to travel to China to prayer walk Yi villages, for most people this not feasible. However, though these virtual prayer walks, you can have a similar experience using photos, prayer request and scripture to guide you in your time of intercession.

How to Use the Virtual Prayer Walking

Please start by preparing your heart for the time you are about to share with the Lord in lifting up the Yi peoples to Him. Pray that the Holy Spirit would give you insight into what to pray as your progress through your journey. Ask God to give you His eyes, that you may see the Yi peoples as He sees them, and have the love for them that He has.

Then choose one of the people groups, where you will begin your journey, and click on the picture. This will take you to the first page of the virtual prayer walk for that particular group of Yi. You will see a picture, a scripture quote, and several prayer request related to the picture. Please feel free to pray though these request and lift up anything else the Lord puts on your heart. Take as much time as you need, and then press the "next" arrow to progress through the prayer walk. If you would like to go back for any reason, use the "previous" arrow to go back to the previous picture. You can also go back to the first page of the journey you are on by clicking on the "start over" button with the up arrow.

Please plan enough time to finish the virtual prayer walk in one sitting. Depending on how much time you pray over each page, it may take anywhere from 20 minutes to one hour. You can return if necessary an pick up where you left off by using the numbers on the bottom left of the page to go directly to the page you stopped at.

Please send any comments and suggestions regarding the virtual prayer walks to GoYi@pobox.com .
